Hi!  My name is Sarah.  I am 15 years old.  I have a sister, a brother, and a dog.  I am home schooled.  I love to read.  I also love hanging out with friends, crocheting, learning sign language, watching movies, and being outside.  I am a blog junky, and I want to be a nurse or Child Life Specialist when I grow up.

On August 9th, 2009, my mom found a lump on my right thigh.  It turned out to be Ewing’s sarcoma – a type of bone cancer.  I have completed all of my chemo treatments, and I am enjoying getting back to normal.  I had surgery in December 2009 to remove the tumor from my leg.  My complete recovery from that surgery will take a while.   I’ve been on crutches for more than 2 years now (as of Feb, 25, 2012), but am able to walk without them around the house and can sometimes use only one now!  I won’t be able to get rid of them altogether until my bone is completely fused with the cadaver bone.  Fusion was seen for the first time in October 2011 and has improved lots since then.

At a routine oncology follow-up on Janary 30, 2012, a tumor was found in my right lung.  (The lungs are a common place for a Ewing’s relapse to occur.)  I will begin treatment for my relapse on February 27, 2012.
